INTERVIEW
It's Cobrinha's Turn to Talk

You heard Rafael Mendes's version on the no-time limit match to the finish that a group of investors would like to make for October. Now it's time for his would-be opponent to reveal his thoughts on the bout. Ladies and gentleman, four-time world champion Rubens Charles Maciel, the ever-popular "Cobrinha".

What do you think can be done to make the match everyone wants to see come to fruition?

First off, I'd like to thank Bray for his initiative in trying to put together an event like this one, and may he continue to contribute to our sport. I'd also like to thank GRACIEMAG.com for the backing and desire to make this model of match prosper, if just because everyone likes to see matches ending by submission. I'd also like to thank all the people who in some way or another gave their opinions. I believe that only in this way will be manage to improve our sport. Look, I still feel 10 thousand dollars is a good purse for this type of match. And, of course, if they pay me more it'll be even better. But that's not realistic in the Jiu-Jitsu world yet. For us to be able to demand bigger purses we have to make our contribution, or in other words, we have to start somewhere, otherwise we're not going to be able to make this sport a professional one.

Lessons from the Greateast

GRACIEMAG #160 is circulating around the world carrying lessons to be learned from the greatest Jiu-Jitsu competitor of all times.

Crowned at the 2010 Worlds, three-time absolute world champion Roger Gracie was put on the hotseat by the rest of this year's black belt world champions. What motivates you to carry on competing in the gi? – queries Bruno Malfacine. Roger answers.

What is it Roger did to compete at the Worlds with such an enviable tank of gas, even just weeks after fighting MMA? – asks Michael Langhi. Roger answers.

If it's the tail end of a match and Roger is trailing on the scorecards but mounted on his opponent's back, would he try for the choke or sink his hooks, thus guaranteeing the win by points? – is Rafael Mendes's question. Roger is amused, and gives a candid response.

What pointers can Roger give Tarsis Humphreys, who requests a training regimen that will yield him a tighter game? Roger, yet again, doesn't skirt the question, and answers.

The most disputed issue of the year is here, with complete coverage of the 2010 Jiu-Jitsu World Championship and all the lessons Roger Gracie has to offer to make you a better practitioner. So don't miss it!
